Mr. + Mrs.

Our Story (short version)

When Jasen and I first started dating he was sixteen and I was only fifteen, so this was the first real relationship for both of us! We met on one of our church mission trips to Chicago and quickly started spending a lot of time together soon after!

It wasn’t long after that, he was asking me to be his girlfriend out in my front yard! Annnnd the rest is history! But really, long story short, we dated all through high school, where we spent the majority of our time either at the baseball field or Chick-fil- A, ha ha. I think that meeting each other at such an early age, was a blessing because it allowed us to watch each other grow through so many stages of life, both individually and as a couple!

Our relationship was always, and still is so easy. I think that we fit together perfectly, and complement each other so well. Over the past six years, our love has grown stronger than I ever imagined it would. He is my biggest supporter, my better half, and the man that I cannot wait to spend forever with! He loves me so well, and I am so thankful for the Lord's faithfulness throughout our relationship. I am so excited for what is in store as we continue into this new season of life together.

The Proposal

What I thought was going to be a simple Saturday at the lake turned into the very best surprise I could ever receive and a day that I will never forget! The entire day was so relaxed and nothing out of the ordinary. We spent the day out on the water, eating, and just spending time with family! (Jasen and I had very vaguely talked about a timeline for getting engaged but I was sure that it would be much later on in the year, so I was not expecting this!)

A little later in the day as we were all sitting around, Jasen started encouraging me to go change out of my swimsuit (and thank goodness he did, because if not I would have gotten engaged with no pants on). But because we had not been in the water, my swimsuit was not even wet. So I told him numerous times that I was fine in what I had on, but he was very adamant about getting me into a different outfit, and I am SO glad that he did! So about the tenth time he asked me, I finally gave in. At this point I still had no clue what was going on, I just thought he really wanted me to change, for whatever reason!

So not long after I changed we decided to go sit on the swing down near the water, but we were not there very long before he asked if I wanted to go sit on the pier instead. So as we got up to walk that way, he grabbed my hand and told me to stop where I was. Before I knew it he was down on one knee asking me to spend forever with him! I said yes so quickly and then immediately looked up to where my family had been sitting, to see that so many of our closest friends had come all the way there to celebrate with us!!

We ended the night surrounded by both of our families, some of our very best friends, and the most beautiful sunset. There is no doubt in my mind that the Lord had his hand over the entire day and allowed us to enjoy this special time together. It will be a night that I will never forget!

Here's to becoming mr. + mrs.!!!
